Mike Tomlin is focused on the players who remain on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster.
The veteran head coach spoke with reporters Saturday for the first time since the Steelers traded wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Pittsburgh received a third-round pick and benefited from a Day 3 pick swap in the deal, parting ways with the wideout who made headlines last season after on-field frustrations.
“I’m not going to add any color to it other than what Omar (Khan) told you guys yesterday,” Tomlin told reporters referring to Pittsburgh’s general manager, per the Steelers. “We thought it was best and timely for all parties involved. Really, I’m just focused on the opportunity that is this weekend for the rookies.”
Steelers insider Mark Kaboly reported Tomlin was the driving factor in the trade.
Khan told reporters Friday the trade with Dallas developed quickly and Pittsburgh felt moving on from Pickens “made sense for everyone.”
