The Pittsburgh Pirates should be absolutely thrilled with the Triple-A start to the season for top prospect Bubba Chandler.
He’s impressed at every level as he rose through the ranks of the Pirates system, though this season has seen him at a whole new level for Triple-A Indianapolis. He posted a 1.83 ERA in seven starts there last season and picked up where he left off with an extra effort.
Chandler has a 1.42 ERA in six starts with 36 strikeouts and just seven walks in 25 1/3 innings for Indianapolis. That’s good for 12.8 strikeouts per nine innings, the best strikeout mark of his career. Chandler looks stronger than ever, and that’s a great sign for the Pirates.
Having Chandler in the same rotation as Paul Skenes for the foreseeable future is a tremendous glimpse of the Pirates’ pitching staff moving forward.
