The Steelers selected quarterback Will Howard with their sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Pittsburgh, which was viewed as a potential landing spot for Shedeur Sanders, opted not to select a signal-caller with any of its first four picks in the draft. Instead, those were used on first-round defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, third-round running back Kaleb Johnson, fourth-round edge rusher Jack Sawyer and fifth-round defensive tackle Yahya Black.
They addressed the prominent position by drafting Howard at 185th overall.
Howard, the eighth quarterback to come off the board, arrives in the Steel City after helping the Ohio State Buckeyes to the National Championship in 2024. Howard played his first four college seasons at Kansas State.
Free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains in play for the Steelers, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. And Pittsburgh surely is hoping that comes to fruition after putting all their eggs in that basket.
