Andrew McCutchen turned the tables on social media criticism with a strong performance for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Los Angeles Angels.
McCutchen homered and drove in three runs in a multi-hit night to lead the Pirates to a 9-3 victory in the series opener against the Angels. The Pirates star had faced criticism for his start to the season with younger outfielders in the mix, and defended himself after Tuesday’s performance.
“Well thank God [you’re] not a GM,” McCutchen posted to X. “Didn’t know the season only lasted [through] the month of April.”
McCutchen holds a .246 batting average this season with a pair of home runs and nine runs driven in.
