Pirates’ Oneil Cruz Already On Pace For Historic Season Goal

Cruz leads the league in stolen bases

Oneil Cruz entered the season with solid momentum and an encouraging chance to make history for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Can the Pirates outfielder become the third player in Pittsburgh history with 25 home runs and 25 stolen bases?

On the base paths, Cruz is well on his way and leads MLB with seven stolen bases in his first 12 games. He’s also slugged a pair of home runs with a .755 OPS in that stretch. The power and speed combination is already on display after a position change from shortstop to the outfield for Cruz.

Cruz has the right fast start out of the gate to join a small group for Pittsburgh, which includes Barry Bond and Andy Van Slyke.
