The Penguins dealt with injuries in the last two weeks and added depth Thursday.
Pittsburgh announced it recalled forwards Emil Bemstrom, Vasily Ponomarev and Valtteri Puustinen from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on an emergency basis.
Rutger McGroaty suffered a lower-body injury in the Penguins’ win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday. The rookie forward was among four players not present at morning skate Thursday. The others were Blake Lizotte, Noel Acciari and Matt Nieto, per the Associated Press’ Wes Crosby.
Bemstrom scored 21 goals and tallied 25 assists for 46 points in 45 AHL games this season, while Ponomarev recorded 15 goals and 25 assists for 40 points in 54 games and Puustinen recorded 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points in 47 AHL games.
