Adam Schefter Views Steelers As ‘Most Plausible’ Landing Spot For QB Prospect

Shedeur Sanders might not go inside the top three, after all

Shedeur Sanders represents the biggest question mark in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Colorado product, who’s viewed as the second-best quarterback prospect behind only Cam Ward, could be selected within the first three picks by either the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants. However, recent rumors indicate such a scenario is less likely than it once was.

“Right now, a couple weeks out, I don’t think Shedeur Sanders is going No. 2. And, again, the signs point he is not going No. 3 either,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on “The Adam Schefter Podcast” released Monday.

Schefter instead floated two other teams as “most plausible” landing spots: the New Orleans Saints (No. 9) or the Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 21).

“Those are the two scenarios in my mind that are most plausible right now,” Schefter said. “I also could see, at some point in time, would it be the New York Giants or Cleveland Browns would trade back into the first round and take the guy, the player, that a lot of people linked to them all along at No. 2 and 3. … Could we see that? I think that would be an option.”

Pittsburgh’s quarterback room leaves a lot to be desired with Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson the only options at the position. The Steelers continue to be viewed as the favorite to sign free agent Aaron Rodgers, but doing so would be a short-term solution while Sanders could become the next face of the franchise.
