Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Hunter Barco started a path back to improved production after hype in his college career and his standing within the system.
The lefty pitched two solid innings during MLB’s Spring Breakout Game against the Philadelphia Phillies and showcased better stuff in his arsenal with velocity back on his fastball. Barco starts this season with Double-A Altoona and looked sharp in his first outing of 2025.
Barco tossed four scoreless innings in his first start with the Altoona Curve. He allowed just three hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
The No. 7 prospect in the Pirates system can rise behind other valued arms in the system with Bubba Chandler and Thomas Harrington.
