The Steelers have been doing their research on the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 draft class, and an NFL insider believes that could lead to a major move.
Jaxson Dart reportedly met with Pittsburgh on Friday. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Steelers are among the teams the quarterback prospect spent the most time with. The other teams on the list were the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and Cleveland Browns. The NFL insider added that the Steelers meeting was last on Dart’s list.
Dart’s Ole Miss pro day impressed analysts to the point where some believe he’ll be a first-round pick. Rapoport floated the idea of the Steelers drafting the 21-year-old with the 21st overall pick on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Friday.
Pittsburgh needs a quarterback of the future. However, it also is embroiled in talks with Aaron Rodgers. It would be a bold move for the Steelers to draft a quarterback in the first round and sign Aaron Rodgers in the same offseason. While not exactly the same as when the Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Love in 2020, the optics might not sit well with Rodgers.
There still isn’t anything concrete, but with the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, Steelers fans might be on the edge of their seat when their team is on the clock in the first round.
