Adam Frazier received his No. 26 back from Bailey Falter, but the Pirates pitcher is still waiting for compensation for the gesture.
Pittsburgh signed Frazier to a one-year, $1.5 million deal last offseason. It marked a homecoming for the All-Star second baseman, who started his major league career with the Pirates.
Bailey Falter previously wore No. 26 but agreed to change his jersey to No. 6 to allow Frazier to reclaim his old number. There typically is a gift of some sort exchanged for such a gesture, but Falter revealed to SportsNet Pittsburgh’s Hannah Mears that the veteran had yet to pay up.
“We’ve been talking. I think we’re going to settle on some golf clubs,” Falter told Mears, as seen on SNP’s pregame coverage. “I think we’re going to do some new golf clubs. I’ve been playing with my dad’s clubs from ’86, I believe, so I think it’s about time for me to get some new ones.”
Falter makes his first start of the season Saturday against the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park. You can catch full coverage of the matchup on SportsNet Pittsburgh.
