After being primarily led by Russell Wilson in 2024, the Steelers could be quarterbacked by a different Super Bowl-winning signal-caller this season.
Pittsburgh appears to be the likeliest landing spot for Aaron Rodgers at this point, as long as the 41-year-old puts off retirement for at least another year. The Giants previously were a projected landing spot for Rodgers, but New York likely is out of running after adding both Jameis Winston and Wilson in free agency.
Wilson was formally introduced by the G-Men on Wednesday and was asked about his former team going after Rodgers.
“Aaron Rodgers is a tremendous football player,” Wilson told reporters, per Penn Live. “I’m focused on right now. What we can do here. That’s been my focus.”
Many thought Pittsburgh would retain Wilson, as Steelers owner Art Rooney II previously made it very clear he wanted his team to retain one of its top two quarterbacks from last season. But Pittsburgh let Wilson sign elsewhere even after Justin Fields latched on with the New York Jets, and time will tell if the storied franchise comes to regret that decision.
