Adam Schefter Offers Latest On Aaron Rodgers, Steelers ‘In Dark’

There are differing opinions as to what Rodgers might do, Schefter said

The Steelers have backed themselves into a corner. Or perhaps a dark cave.

Pittsburgh allowed both Justin Fields (Jets) and Russell Wilson (Giants) to leave for New York with its attention firmly on 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers reportedly spent six hours with Rodgers last week, but apparently still don’t know what his decision will be or when it will come.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday some around the league feel Rodgers might not play next season. Others believe the four-time NFL MVP still prefers to land with the Minnesota Vikings, who haven’t shut the door but don’t seem to be in a rush to sign Rodgers.

“He met with their (Steelers) coaches, the two sides talked about what it would be like to work together, but there still is no answer about what Aaron Rodgers wants to do,” Schefter said on “Get Up.” “There are people who believe that he may not play this year. There are people who believe he’s waiting to see if something might open down the line in Minnesota with the Vikings, but nobody knows for sure what Aaron Rodgers’ game plan is, and for the time being, the Steelers are in the dark.”

While Schefter’s insights should hold significant weight, there are conflicting reports out there. According to Sports Illustrated’s Noah Strackbein, the Steelers expect to have an answer on the Rodgers situation this week or early next week.
