Steelers Continue Meeting With QB Prospects Amid Aaron Rodgers Pursuit

Pittsburgh is keeping its QB options open

The Pittsburgh Steelers remain in the hunt for Aaron Rodgers, but they aren’t limiting their quarterback options.

Rodgers visited the Steelers facility last week but left without inking a deal. His options dwindled after the New York Giants reportedly agreed to deals with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. Regardless, the four-time NFL MVP still contemplated his options.

The Steelers made preparations for the draft and met with quarterback prospect Jalen Milroe. Pittsburgh contained its draft prep when Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan met with running backs Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson and QB Will Howard, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Howard posted solid numbers with Ohio State last season. However, his inconsistency overshadowed his physical profile. Also, scouts expressed concern that Howard benefitted from the Buckeyes’ talent. NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein used Blake Bortles for an NFL comparison.

The Ohio State product is expected to be a Day 2 or Day 3 pick, but the Steelers’ visit with the quarterback showed they are exploring every option available. Mason Rudolph might be called upon to start if Rodgers doesn’t choose them or ends up retiring.
