Cameron Heyward already clarified his remarks regarding star quarterback Aaron Rodgers possibly joining the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Heyward called out Rodgers earlier this month for his approach to the offseason with the Steelers among a couple of other teams squarely in the mix to sign the 41-year-old signal-caller.
Heyward once again addressed his comments about Rodgers when he appeared on “Good Morning Football” on Wednesday and the veteran defensive lineman made it clear he’s all for Rodgers donning a Steelers uniform next season.
“It was misconstrued. From my point of view, I was asked the question, ‘Would you go to the lengths of going to a darkness retreat to recruit Aaron Rodgers?’ I said, ‘I’m not doing that. The pitch is, if you want to be a Steeler, be a Steeler,'” Heyward said. “That’s all it was. It wasn’t meant that I don’t like Aaron Rodgers, (or) I’m against him.
“When I look at our team right now, it would be really cool to have a guy like Aaron Rodgers. But, I can’t be the guy who gets it over the finish line, I think he has to make those decisions for himself. But excited to see what happens.”

Rodgers’ possible landing spots are getting slimmer after the New York Giants scooped up Russell Wilson in free agency. It appears to be between the Steelers and Minnesota Vikings for the four-time NFL MVP.
While Rodgers is way past his prime, he might actually be a slight upgrade compared to Pittsburgh’s quarterback situation last season when it played both Wilson and Justin Fields, who signed with the New York Jets this offseason. At the moment, Mason Rudolph is the top quarterback on Pittsburgh’s depth chart.
Rodgers could see the Steelers as a chance to prove he has just a little left in the tank. He completed a career-low 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season.
