Aaron Rodgers reportedly visited the Steelers facility Friday, and Pittsburgh made a significant move for the quarterback’s first free-agent visit.
The Steelers reportedly still had their offer open for the 41-year-old, and while the free-agent visit went well, the four-time NFL MVP walked out without agreeing to a contract.
Rodgers reportedly met with multiple members of Pittsburgh’s brass, including head coach Mike Tomlin, owner Art Rooney II, general manager Omar Khan and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Saturday, to ensure everyone would be in the building for Rodgers, the Steelers skipped Michigan’s pro day. That is a significant move since pro days are when most members of a franchise attend and meet with players personally while they run drills and take measurements.
The reported gesture showed how committed the Steelers are to signing a deal with Rodgers, who also reportedly is mulling interest from the New York Giants. The decision ultimately is down to the All-Pro quarterback, and Pittsburgh is willing to wait and do whatever it takes to make sure he signs with it.
