Najee Harris began his tenure with the Los Angeles Chargers by airing his frustration with his former team — the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pro Bowl running back said the Steelers “didn’t have any identity” on offense, and retired NFL linebacker and ESPN analyst Bart Scott unleashed a fiery critique at Harris for bashing the team that drafted him and gave him the opportunity to build his career in the NFL.
“You ungrateful dude,” Scott said on “Get Up” on Friday. “Listen, how fortunate it is for you to be in the playoffs every year of your career. I mean, that doesn’t just happen, and when you leave, sometimes you realize just how good you have it.
“Now, he’s going to a place where maybe they have their future quarterback. But it’s gonna be a similar philosophy in that the Chargers are trying to build their team by bringing over Mekhi Becton to a team that’s based on the run game and not really throw a lot. Similar and play great defense. That’s how (Jim) Harbaugh builds his team, similar to how Mike Tomlin builds his team.”
Harris leaves the Steelers with 4,312 yards on 1,097 carries and 28 touchdowns. On the first day of the NFL’s legal tampering period, he signed a one-year, $5.25 million deal with the Chargers.
