New Steelers Safety Celebrates Fresh Start With Viral Video

'Can't wait to chase Ring No. 7'

One of the more interesting moves for the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency was signing safety Juan Thornhill to a one-year contract.

The two-time Super Bowl champion won titles with the Kansas City Chiefs before signing a three-year deal with the Cleveland Browns following the 2022 NFL season. After two lackluster seasons with Cleveland, Thornhill was apparently ready for a change of scenery and showed his excitement in a TikTok video.

In the video, Thornhill is shown wearing a Browns hat, which he promptly tosses to the side and transitions to a Steelers hat and a Terrible Towel with Cheap Trick’s “Renegade” blasting in the background. It’s safe to say Thornhill is ready to be a part of Steelers Nation.

The 29-year-old followed up the viral video with a second one featuring a message to the fans.

“Hey, what’s up Steelers Nation, man, it’s Juan Thornhill over here,” Thornhill said in the video, featuring Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” in the background. “I’m just here to let y’all know that I really appreciate all of the love and support that you guys have been giving me.

“Can’t wait to get to Pittsburgh. Can’t wait to chase Ring No. 7. I’m excited about this opportunity that you guys have given me. I hope you guys embrace me. Hopefully, I can make a lot of plays for you guys, and I just can’t wait to get there, man. I just want to say thank you and appreciate you guys. Much love.”

Thornhill has appeared in 87 games, starting 74, with the Chiefs and Browns, and has eight career interceptions and 24 pass breakups. The addition of Thornhill, who has played both free and strong safety in his career, gives the Steelers depth behind Minkah Fitzpatrick and DeShon Elliott.
