The Pittsburgh Pirates have a number of young arms to tune in for in 2025.
Paul Skenes and Jared Jones lead that conversation at the MLB level while the organization’s top prospect, Bubba Chandler, is on the rise, boosted by another strong outing in the Spring Breakout Game. Those arms take the attention, though another Pirates right-hander is deserving of some.
Thomas Harrington, Pittsburgh’s No. 3 prospect and the game’s No. 79 overall prospect per MLB Pipeline, turned in a solid outing Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies. He allowed just one run on one hit and one walk with three strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings of work for the Pirates.
The 2022 first-rounder also made it to Triple-A Indianapolis along with Chandler last season. He made eight starts and held a 3.33 ERA over 46 innings of work.
The Pirates have plenty of pitching talent to build around, and impactful development seasons are upcoming in 2025. Harrington should absolutely be in that conversation for Pittsburgh.
