Ex-NFL QB Sends Warning To Steelers Wideouts Amid Aaron Rodgers Speculation

Pittsburgh could be a hotbed for drama this season

If the Steelers ultimately sign Aaron Rodgers, it will be fascinating to see how the legendary quarterback works with Pittsburgh’s best skill-position players.

After trading for DK Metcalf, Mike Tomlin and company now boast one of the NFL’s more imposing wide receiver duos. Metcalf will work alongside George Pickens, another wideout whose size and skill make him a matchup nightmare for opposing defensive backs. However, those traits aren’t the only things Metcalf and Pickens have in common.

Both of the vertical threats are never hesitant to speak their minds and have a penchant to find themselves involved in drama. The same can be said of Rodgers, but as former NFL quarterback Phil Simms explained on the Bleav YouTube channel, the future Hall of Fame signal-caller can shy away from wideouts who create distractions.

“”Here’s the other thing, if you’re a wide receiver in Pittsburgh, are you going to act up when Aaron Rodgers is quarterback? Well, if you do, you’ll never see the damn ball,” Simms said.

All things considered, Rodgers might not be the best QB to lead the Steelers offense in 2025 or beyond. But when you consider the rest of the quarterback market, Pittsburgh might feel it has no other choice.
