Pirates Pitching Prospect Makes Progress In Spring Breakout Game

Hunter Barco tossed two innings

The Pittsburgh Pirates have a number of intriguing pitchers, including Paul Skenes and Jared Jones, who are in the majors, and impact prospects such as Bubba Chandler.

Lefty Hunter Barco also took the mound in relief in Friday’s MLB Spring Breakout Game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Florida product tossed two innings with one run allowed on one hit with a strikeout. The left-hander reached Double-A Altoona last season and should start 2025 there with the chance to recharge his original potential as a 2022 second-rounder. Pittsburgh got a solid appearance in the showcase outing that could ignite a promising year for Barco.

Barco is the No. 7 prospect in the Pirates system, per MLB Pipeline.
