A new NFL season began Wednesday, but the Steelers are stuck with the same song and dance with Aaron Rodgers.
The New York Jets officially released Rodgers, who can sign with any team of his choice. Those choices reportedly are down to Pittsburgh, the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings. The Steelers seemed to be the favorite, but a delay in a decision had fans worried about the future Hall of Famer’s potential arrival.
Pittsburgh reportedly made an offer, but the delay is not due to financial differences.
“Apparently, the delay in the Aaron Rodgers discussion with the Steelers is not about money. The offer has been made,” Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette posted on X on Wednesday. “It’s about Rodgers taking his good ol’ time about making a decision.”
Rodgers’ indecision irked ESPN’s Adam Schefter and likely many other NFL fans, too. However, Steelers fans might forgive the All-Pro quarterback if he decides Pittsburgh is the best place for the next phase of his NFL career.
