Aaron Rodgers Rumors: Steelers Have This Backup Plan If QB Signs Elsewhere

Pittsburgh is stuck playing the waiting game with Rodgers

The quarterback market moved quickly after the first day of the legal tampering period, but the Steelers could still land a signal-caller they’ve long been linked to.

Pittsburgh reportedly is on the verge of a deal with Aaron Rodgers. However, the future Hall of Fame QB reportedly is mulling over the New York Giants, and there is wild speculation he could follow Brett Favre’s footsteps and sign with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Steelers reportedly lost Justin Fields to the New York Jets and don’t have a quarterback signed to the roster. According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Russell Wilson is viewed as the Steelers’ backup plan if Mike Tomlin’s side and Rodgers are unable to reach financial terms.

One problem the Steelers could run into is that other teams are interested in Wilson’s services. Would Pittsburgh get into a bidding war for Wilson? The answer to that question isn’t clear, but it is clear that the Steelers need to find an answer at quarterback, and there is a real possibility it could lead them back to Wilson.
