Pirates Fans Will Love This Swing From Promising Prospect

Konnor Griffin left the yard with power

The Pittsburgh Pirates have another first-round talent to dream on in 2024 selection Konnor Griffin.

The high-school infielder looked great in early spring training live at-bats and took his talent to game action in the Grapefruit League. Pittsburgh had another matchup with the Baltimore Orioles Saturday afternoon. The teams entered the ninth inning in a 2-2 tie when the No. 9 overall pick stepped to the plate.

Griffin got the best of Orioles reliever Brandon Young when he lashed a solo home run to right center field to put the Pirates in front in an eventual 5-2 victory for Pittsburgh. The 18-year-old bumped his spring batting average to .400. His progress should be promising for the Pirates as the young infielder begins his first professional season.

Griffin enters the years as the No. 2 prospect for the Pirates only behind pitcher Bubba Chandler.
