Adam Frazier moves around quite a bit for the Pittsburgh Pirates, though he may add another spot to his resume during spring training.
The veteran infielder took reps this week at first base during workouts in Bradenton, Fla., per Tribune-Review’s Kevin Gorman.
Frazier is no stranger to playing multiple positions, but first base and catcher are the only positions the Pittsburgh infielder hasn’t played at the MLB level. The experiment makes sense given Pittsburgh’s depth among middle infielders that also led star Oneil Cruz to shift to center field late last season.
The Pirates have plenty of storylines to follow this spring and positional alignments up the middle are near the top of the list.
