NFL Rumors: This Team ‘Could Have Interest’ In Justin Fields

Fields might find an opportunity in the AFC East

If Justin Fields doesn’t stick with the Steelers, he potentially could take his talents to a different AFC team.

Fields is slated to hit NFL free agency, and it’s unclear how the Steelers want to handle their quarterback situation following an up-and-down 2024 season. Thus, it’s more than fair to speculate about where the 2021 first-round pick could play in the 2025 season.

One potential suitor might be the Jets, who are moving on from seasoned signal-caller Aaron Rodgers. In fact, Fields himself might like the idea of playing in the Meadowlands.

“They (Jets) could have some interest; they like the idea of a dual-threat quarterback,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said Monday on “SportsCenter,” as transcribed by Bleacher Report. “He’s younger. I’m told Fields has looked at that roster, sees some intrigue there too. They have some good young pieces, like Garrett Wilson and a good defense.”

Fields might be worth a flier for the Jets, especially when you consider the expected quarterback landscape this spring. New York probably won’t be able to find a true game-changer in free agency or via trade, and the 2025 draft class doesn’t feature many promising QB prospects.

The Ohio State product almost certainly won’t turn the tides for Gang Green. But for a low cost, it might be worth it for the Jets to see if Fields has any untapped potential.
