Adam Frazier rejoined the Pittsburgh Pirates after finalizing a one-year deal last month, reuniting the veteran second baseman with the club that drafted him in 2013.
“Feels like home,” Frazier said after an optional workout at Pirate City on Saturday, per Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Andrew Destin. “… A lot of familiar faces in this clubhouse, maybe not on the team, but guys I’ve played with elsewhere are here now, and clubhouse guys and the coaches and everybody. That makes it easier to hop back into a place.”
Some of the players Frazier has reunited with in Pittsburgh include Andrew McCutchen, Bryan Reynolds and Ke’Bryan Hayes. Frazier also said the Pirates have playoff potential with a pitching staff anchored by All-Stars Paul Skenes and Mitch Keller.
“Feel pretty comfortable here, so I felt comfortable coming back and excited with this group,” Frazier said. “You can see the playoff-caliber pitching and good group of young guys along with some older veterans like Reynolds and Cutch and guys I’ve played with before. Excited to get to work with them and see if we can make a run at this thing.”
The 33-year-old continued: “The window is here. I think it was open even last year. The team was in the mix until the last month and a half, kind of hit a skid. So that’s baseball, trying to put together 162 this time around. I think we’ve got a chance to make the playoffs and make some noise.”
