Next Star Of Pirates Pitching Wave Earns Spring Training Non-Roster Invite

Bubba Chandler is on the cusp of the big leagues

The Pittsburgh Pirates already have two legitimate starting pitchers leading at the MLB level in Paul Skenes and Jared Jones. They should have another on the way in the coming years.

Elite pitching prospect Bubba Chandler earned a non-roster invite to spring training from the Pirates. The organization’s top prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 15 prospect in baseball enters his fourth full professional season and should be ready to make his MLB debut in a few months.

Chandler now gets valuable time around the big-league club for the Pirates at the spring training complex in Bradenton, Fla. this spring. Fans could see several images of the future of the Pittsburgh rotation in Chandler, Skenes and Jones this season. The right-hander ended 2024 with momentum in Triple-A Indianapolis with a 4-0 record and a 1.83 ERA with 54 strikeouts in seven starts.

Pittsburgh plays its first spring training game on Feb. 22 against the Baltimore Orioles.
