NFL Insider Provides Key Update On Russell Wilson’s Steelers Future

Wilson might be one-and-done in Pittsburgh

Russell Wilson might be one-and-done with the Steelers.

The veteran quarterback signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh and turned it into a successful career turnaround. The 36-year-old was injured to start the season, but when he took over for Justin Fields, he looked like his old self and guided the Steelers to the playoffs. However, his limited ceiling was on display in the postseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens and had fans questioning his future.

NFL insider Jay Glazer, who is close friends with head coach Mike Tomlin, offered a clear assessment of Wilson’s future.

“I think you’ll see a new start for Russell,” Glazer said on NBC Sports’ “Fantasy Football Happy Hour” on Wednesday.

Glazer admitted the Steelers are hyper-focused on one thing at a time with their eyes set on the Senior Bowl last month and then focusing on the NFL Scouting Combine after. He noted that Tomlin and his staff would take time to assess the free-agent market but was not optimistic Wilson would be part of those plans.

It’s unknown how confident the Steelers would be in Justin Fields or if they have their eye on a quarterback in free agency or in the draft.
