The Pittsburgh Steelers could use another wide receiver to pair with George Pickens.
And a standout wideout just became available on the trade market.
Los Angeles Rams star Cooper Kupp revealed on social media Monday that he was informed he will be traded this offseason. And Steelers legendary Ben Roethlisberger sees adding Kupp as a perfect opportunity for Pittsburgh to make a major upgrade to its offense.
“I think for the Steelers, it’s a great move, depending on what the Rams are asking,” Roethlisberger said Tuesday on the “Footbahlin” podcast, as transcribed by Steeler Depot’s Jake Brockhoff. “If they’re asking for something that’s outlandish, don’t do it. But if it’s worth doing, and you have the cap space to take on his contract, then I would absolutely do it.”
Kupp might be on the back nine of his career, but he’s still a productive veteran wide receiver. He notched 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns, which would have topped all Steelers receivers except for Pickens.

The Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals are the betting favorites at the moment to land Kupp, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. But Roethlisberger can see a scenario in which Kupp doesn’t want to come to Pittsburgh.
“From Cooper’s side of it, I wouldn’t want to come here,” Roethlisberger said. “Because you don’t know what’s going on at quarterback. And as a receiver, you need the quarterback.”
