Steelers Star Gives Blunt Reaction To Losing Defensive Coach

The move from the coach brought out mixed feelings for Patrick Queen

Aaron Curry is leaving the Steelers to join the New York Jets as their linebackers coach — it was the same title he held with Pittsburgh.

The move from Curry came with mixed feelings for Steelers star linebacker Patrick Queen.

“Happy for him and excited for him,” Queen said to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now at the Pro Bowl, per Penn Live. “I texted him that it was the best decision for him right now and I can understand that… It definitely sucks to have a new linebackers coach coming in, but I’m pretty sure they’re going to bring in somebody good. Nothing but respect for him.”

Queen turned in another strong season as he went from the Baltimore Ravens to the Steelers. Under Curry’s watch, Queen delivered a team-high 129 tackles to go along with a career-high seven passes defended.

Queen also credited Curry for helping grow his leadership skills during his first season with the Steelers.

“(He taught me) how to be a leader,” Queen said. “When situations aren’t ideal, just stay cool and stay calm, especially having to be the guy being the green dot, just being calm and keeping everyone else calm. I was always the hot-headed one, the tempered one.”
