Pirates Announce Minor League Coaching Staff For 2025 Season

The Curve staff will look pretty different in the spring

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced the coaching staff, including two new skippers for their respective minor league clubs, for the 2025 season on Friday.

Chris Truby will lead the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians after serving as the Pirates’ infield coordinator since 2022. Truby was the bench coach for the Indians last season. He is replacing Miguel Pérez, who will be joining Pittsburgh’s major league staff as the bullpen coach.

Pittsburgh also announced the additions of Eric Patterson as bench coach and Andy Bass as mental performance coordinator. Pitching coaches Drew Benes and Cibney Bello, bullpen coach Joe Thatcher, hitting coach Eric Munson and integrated baseball performance coach Bart Hanegraaff will retain their roles with the club from 2024.

The Pirates also named Andy Fox as the 16th manager of the Altoona Curve for the upcoming season. Fox spent the last three seasons on the Red Sox coaching staff as the team’s infield coordinator for the 2022 and 2023 seasons and Boston’s first base coach in 2024. Former Curve manager Robby Hammock left the Pirates organization to join the San Diego Padres staff.

Fox will lead a refreshed Curve coaching staff that features just one holdover from last season — bench coach Gary Green. Pitching coach Matt Ford joins the team for his 12th season as an instructor in the Pirates minor league system and hitting coaches Scott Seabol and Casey Harms join Fox’s staff after serving at the lower levels of the Pirates minor league system in 2024.
