Latest Mock Draft Has Steelers Replacing Najee Harris In Backfield

This would be an impressive spark for the Steelers offense

The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for a spark or two for the offense next season and the latest mock draft by The 33rd Team has them adding exactly that.

Pittsburgh will have the 21st overall selection when the 2025 NFL Draft arrives on April 24. There are several directions that the Steelers can go — but they’re expected to add to their offense, which continuously struggled throughout the 2024 season. A wide receiver has been a continuous projection among various mock drafts, but perhaps they could build their offense elsewhere.

The 33rd Team’s Kyle Crabbs projects the Steelers to select Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the 21st pick, replacing free agent and former Pittsburgh first-round pick Najee Harris as the team’s new lead runner.

“The Steelers’ DNA is well established,” Crabbs wrote in his mock draft. “The team embraces a physical brand of football, and under Mike Tomlin, they will want to play smash-mouth football and run the ball. Najee Harris is set to hit free agency this offseason after four years and nearly 1,300 touches from scrimmage. Re-signing him would not be a bad idea, but spending on a running back is always controversial. Instead, Pittsburgh could take advantage of the slide experienced by Ashton Jeanty here to get a fresh workhorse behind their revamped offensive line courtesy of recent draft classes.”

Jeanty finished his 2024 season with 2,601 rushing yards, 29 rushing touchdowns, and 138 more yards through the air. There’s no doubt that if he falls to the Steelers at No. 21, they’d have to consider him to help reshape their offense.
