Could Steelers QB Be Interested In Potential Reunion With Raiders?

A reunion could be in the works

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be in the market for a quarterback and one of their potential options could have interest elsewhere in the form of an unexpected reunion.

Heading into the 2025 offseason, the Steelers must make decisions regarding quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Both quarterbacks are set to enter free agency as Wilson’s one-year deal with Pittsburgh will be up while Fields’ rookie contract is also up. That being said, the veteran quarterback could be the one with a new potential suitor.

Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was named the new head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders, and there are rumors that he could be interested in partnering up with Wilson again — just three seasons after the nine-time Pro Bowler moved on from Seattle.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes that there’s smoke to this rumor, relaying that Carroll and Wilson have already begun to fix their relationship.

“I reached out to a few former (Pete) Carroll lieutenants in Seattle, both expect Carroll to be a great fit in Las Vegas but they also both pointed out they would not be surprised if Carroll reached out to Russell Wilson,” Fowler said on ESPN’s “NFL Live.” “Possibly trying to sign the free agent, make amends for what went wrong at the end of that Seattle era. One of them even pointed out that Carroll and Wilson began to rekindle their relationship about a year ago or so.”

Each Steelers quarterback has the potential to return, with Wilson having shown interest in returning publicly. After taking over as the starter for the Steelers in Week 7, the 36-year-old threw for 2,482 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions while putting together a 6-5 record in the regular season.

It remains to be seen on what Wilson, Fields, and the Steelers decide this offseason.
