The Steelers enter the offseason with a handful of questions, but the biggest storyline is obvious: Quarterback.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler spoke with several league executives, scouts and personnel figures for a story predicting the 2025 campaign.
One common theme when it came to Pittsburgh? Nobody knows what the Steelers will do at the signal-caller position with both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields set to hit the open market. However, one scout expects Pittsburgh will draft a quarterback “fairly high” in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“I still think this could go either way,” an NFL scouting director told Fowler. “Part of me feels like they bring back Russell. Either way, I expect them to draft a quarterback fairly high. They need someone who can be the answer long term.”
The Steelers, who qualified for the AFC playoffs before they were dismantled by the rival Baltimore Ravens, hold the 21st pick in April’s event. Given the overwhelming belief it’s not a strong quarterback class, Pittsburgh might be in a tough spot should it want to address the position.
