Steelers QB Justin Fields Projected To Land One-Year, $8.8M Deal In Free Agency

Will will be back in 2025?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have two big-name quarterbacks heading to free agency this offseason.

Pittsburgh was very fortunate to have both Justin Fields and Russel Wilson with the team in 2024. Both did their job well and there is an argument that either should be the team’s starting quarterback in 2025. While this is the case, both will be free agents this offseason and anything could happen.

At this point, it seems like Fields would be the cheaper option. Spotrac currently is projecting his market value to be $8.8 million across one year. He’s just 25 years old and has all of the talent in the world. There’s an argument that he could be the team’s best option for 2025 and beyond.

Wilson’s market value is projected to be just over $77 million over two years. He’s 36 years old and could be a very good fit for the 2025 season, but he may not have a long-term future in Pittsburgh. The Steelers’ front office certainly has a tough decision ahead of them. Fields started the first six games of the season for the Steelers before turning things over to Wilson. He went 4-2 and showed a lot of positive signs.

Wilson started off hot, but the Steelers struggled down the stretch and now are on the outside looking in on the playoffs. There’s an argument to be made for both quarterbacks. Who should the Steelers go after in free agency?
