Penguins See Lead Disappear In Third Period, Lose Against Kraken

The Pens suffered a tough loss on Tuesday

It isn’t getting any better for the Pittsburgh Penguins as of late with their loss on Tuesday night being the toughest.

Pittsburgh fell to the Seattle Kraken, losing by a score of 4-2. The Penguins carried a 2-1 lead into the third period before the Kraken scored three unanswered goals — including the game-tying goal by Jamie Oleksiak and game-winning by Eeli Tolvanen in at the 8:04 and 8:54 marks — a 50-second difference.

The struggles of the now-waived goaltender Tristan Jarry were on display, as he only faced 17 shots in the game but watched three get by him, one of which was a shorthanded score — posting a .824 save percentage.

In terms of the Penguins and their scorers — Philip Tomasino and Bryan Rust both got on the board for Pittsburgh. Tomasino’s goal was his fifth of the season while Rust scored his 17th of the season — which ranks second on the team behind Rickard Rakell’s 22. Pittsburgh also dominated shot-wise and in the faceoff dot, outshooting the Kraken 33-18 while having a 63.5% faceoff percentage.

The Penguins will attempt to end their losing streak Friday night when they face the Buffalo Sabres.
