Pirates Invite Several Familiar Faces To Spring Training

Hunter Stratton could be back in 2025

The Pirates are inviting several familiar faces back into the fold.

Pittsburgh announced the group of players who received non-roster invitations to major league camp for spring training on Monday, which includes several relievers who previously pitched out of their bullpen.

Isaac Mattson, Yohan Ramirez and Hunter Stratton will report with pitchers and catchers on Feb. 12 in Bradenton, Fla.

Mattson, Ramirez and Stratton all previously pitched out of the bullpen at PNC Park, with the latter perhaps having the best chance to earn a spot out of camp. Stratton was 2-1 with a 3.26 ERA across two seasons but ruptured the patella tendon in his left knee last August.

The Pirates also have invited four veteran righties in Carson Fulmer, Tanner Rainey, Yerry Rodríguez and Burch Smith, as well as youngster Eddy Yean, with five position players (catcher Abrahan Gutierrez, infielders Darick Hall, Malcom Nunez and Nick Solak, and outfielder Bryce Johnson) joining them.
