The Pittsburgh Steelers will likely shake things up in the organization after falling to the Baltimore Ravens Wild-Card weekend 28-14.
The Steelers finished this season the same as last year, with a 10-7 record and a first-round playoff exit. Pittsburgh was 10-3 before losing four straight games to end the regular season and losing in the playoffs. Despite quarterback Russell Wilson playing his best game in a month, throwing for 270 yards and two touchdowns, the Steelers’ defense couldn’t stop the Ravens offense.
Even though the Steelers have lost six straight postseason games, the team is planning to retain Tomlin despite the team’s early exit in the postseason, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac.
“Despite a widespread public outcry and another embarrassing early exit from the postseason, the Steelers are not planning to make any move involving coach Mike Tomlin, according to team sources,” Dulac said. “Tomlin signed a three-year extension before the season that will keep him with the team through at least the 2027 season.
“He is the longest-tenured coach in the NFL and believed to earn approximately $15 million annually. After losing their sixth consecutive postseason game and being one-and-done for the eighth time under Tomlin, the Steelers will apparently attempt to fix their recurring problems with solutions that don’t involve their 18-year head coach.”

Tomlin has been great for the Steelers since becoming the head coach in 2007. He has 18 consecutive seasons without a losing season with the team and has also won a Super Bowl with Pittsburgh. The Steelers will need to make changes to improve the team for next season, but retaining Tomlin will keep the team in a position to compete.
