Steelers Listed As Potential Landing Spot For Jets Star Receiver

Will Pittsburgh land a star wide receiver in the offseason?

With over half of the National Football League already looking ahead to the 2025 season, potential trade targets are opening up for teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers have been actively seeking a high-end wide receiver to complement George Pickens since before the 2024 season began. Pickens had 59 passes for 900 yards and three touchdowns, but Pittsburgh’s leading receiver behind him was Pat Freiermuth with 653 yards. The Steelers have been linked to nearly every major receiver and will likely look to add one in the offseason.

One potential target for the Steelers would be New York Jets star receiver Davante Adams, according to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox.

“The New York Jets are facing some difficult decisions with wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams.” Knox wrote. “Wilson will be extension-eligible this offseason, and if Rodgers returns to the Jets—a prospect that feels unlikely—he may demand that his next contract comes from somewhere else. Even if Rodgers is released or traded, Wilson could wind up on the trade block.”

“Because of Adams’ age and contract—he’s set to carry a base salary of $35.6 million in 2025—he may be readily available for a bargain, though only a fit for playoff-ready teams in need of receiver help. The Steelers fit that mold, as do the Los Angeles Chargers. Of course, if a team does trade for the 41-year-old Rodgers or signs him following his release, that team would instantly become a potential landing spot for Adams.”

After three games with the Las Vegas Raiders, Adams was traded to the Jets. Across 14 games, he tallied 85 catches for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns. The veteran wideout has surpassed 1,000 yards in five straight seasons and would be a great addition to the Steelers offense.
