Chris Boswell Makes Steelers Franchise History With Newest Accolade

Boswell was named a First-Team All-Pro after hitting 41 field goals

As the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare for their playoff matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, they can rest easy knowing they have one of the best kickers in the league ready to compete.

Chris Boswell set a franchise record this season, hitting 41 field goals. He was extremely consistent for the Steelers this season, hitting 41 out of 44 field goals. Boswell’s success didn’t go unnoticed, as he was named a First-Team All-Pro.

After being named First-Team All-Pro, Boswell made franchise history by becoming the first Steelers kicker to earn that honor, according to Penn Live’s Nick Farabaugh.

“Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell was officially named a First-Team All-Pro on Friday, the first time he has earned the honor in his career,” Farabaugh said. “After a spectacular season, it is not a surprise that Boswell smashed records during a historic season for him. However, Boswell is the very first Steelers kicker to ever be named a First-Team All-Pro.”

“He went 41 of 44 this season while sinking all 35 of his extra point attempts. Boswell ran away with the honor, as the second closest kicker, Brandon Aubrey, was not all that close. Boswell was also named to the second Pro Bowl of his career. His 41 field goal makes are the most in Steelers franchise history, beating his own previous record of 36 that he set back in the 2017 season.”

Boswell had a 93.2 field-goal percentage and had multiple games this season where he hit six field goals and accounted for all of the Steelers points. His consistency made a huge difference as he scored the most total points by a player this season with 158. Pittsburgh will look to Boswell to help continue putting points on the board in its matchup with Baltimore.
