Steelers Set To Face Division Rivals In First Round Of Playoffs

The Steelers will take on the Ravens for the third time this season

The Pittsburgh Steelers will face a familiar foe in the first round of the playoffs during Wild-Card weekend.

The Baltimore Ravens clinched the AFC North with their victory over the Cleveland Browns in Week 18. The Steelers, who finished the regular season at 10-7 following a four-game losing streak, dropped to the sixth seed with their 19-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18.

Pittsburgh will now face off against three-seed Baltimore for the third time this season in the first round of the playoffs, according to Steelers.com’s Teresa Varley.

“The Steelers will open the postseason on the road against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium in the AFC Wild Card Round,” Varley said. “The date and time of the game, and the network it airs on, has yet to be announced by the NFL. The Steelers, who are the sixth seed, and Ravens, who are the third seed, split the regular season series this year, with both teams winning at home.”

“The Steelers are 3-1 against the Ravens all-time in the postseason. This is the 11th time under Coach Mike Tomlin that the Steelers have earned a playoff berth. He has led them to seven AFC North titles, three AFC Championship games and twice led them to a Super Bowl appearance, including winning Super Bowl XLIII.”

Although Pittsburgh did split the season series with Baltimore, the more recent matchup between them in Week 16 resulted in a 34-17 victory for Baltimore. The Steelers offense will aim to return to form after failing to eclipse 17 points in the final four weeks of the regular season while the defense looks to stave off MVP candidate Lamar Jackson and star running back Derrick Henry.
