Steelers Suggested As Possible Fit For Standout Georgia Edge Rusher

What will Pittsburgh do?

There is just one more week left in the 2024 National Football League regular season.

It has been a long and wild season so far. The Steelers’ draft positioning will come down to the final week of the regular season. Pittsburgh needs the Baltimore Ravens to lose in order to have a chance at the AFC North division title. The Ravens are 11-5 on the season while the Steelers are 10-6.

A loss by the Ravens and a win by the Steelers would give them the opportunity to have a home playoff game. If not, they will hit the road in the first week of the postseason.

It’s unclear what will happen, but there will be changes after the postseason no matter what. The Steelers will need to add some more pieces and specifically could use a boost on the edge. Because of this, Bleacher Report’s scouting department suggested Georgia EDGE Mykel Williams as a possible fit.

“2025 NFL Draft: EDGE Mykel Williams, Georgia,” Bleacher Report said. “Edge-rusher is not an obvious need for the Steelers. T.J. Watt is obviously one of the best in the league and Alex Highsmith is more than capable as a sidekick. However, teams can never have enough edge-rushers, and Williams is a player who is going to take a few years to find his ceiling anyway.

“The 6’5″, 265-pound defensive end has lined up as a 4i and standup ‘backer at Georgia. It’s not out of the question that the Steelers could eventually use packages where he is on the field with Watt and Highsmith.”

He has impressed this season with Georgia. Williams has appeared in 11 games and has five sacks, 20 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, two passes defended, and two forced fumbles.

Adding a young guy like this would give the Steelers an immediate boost.
