Steelers Should Re-Sign 8-Time Pro Bowler To Help Bolster Defense

Should the Steelers make a move?

If the Pittsburgh Steelers want to add another piece for the defense, they should reunite with an old friend.

Pittsburgh has lost each of its last three games and over that stretch has given up 27, 34, and 29 points to the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Kansas City Chiefs. Now, the Steelers are 10-6 on the season and in second place in the AFC North behind the Ravens.

The Steelers’ defense could use a boost but unfortunately, there aren’t too many players out there who can help. There is one player who should be considered in free agency, though. Eight-time Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson is available still after spending the 2023 season with the Steelers.

He appeared in all 17 games for the Steelers last year and started 16 of them. Peterson logged two interceptions, 11 passes defended, and 42 total tackles. He was one of the best cornerbacks in football at one point and certainly is a future Hall of Famer. But, if he wants to get into some action this season, the Steelers should bring him back.

Pittsburgh needs to do something to improve its defense and Peterson is a player who at least could provide somewhat of a boost and he’s already familiar with the organization. The playoffs are just about to be here and the Steelers clearly need to do something to fix their struggling defense. There is just one game left in the regular season so clearly Peterson wouldn’t be expensive but he could have a positive impact.
