The Pittsburgh Steelers certainly will have a tough decision to make this upcoming offseason.
Both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson have been good for Pittsburgh this season. Fields started the first six games of the season and was 4-2 before Wilson took over. The nine-time Pro Bowler has been 6-2 as the team’s quarterback ever since and has looked rejuvenated.
Who will be the team’s starting quarterback in 2025, though? Neither are under contract beyond this season and it wouldn’t be shocking to see one of them come back. There have been some rumblings that Wilson could end up being that guy. If that ends up being the case, then Fields will be a hot commodity on the open market.
Bleacher Report’s scouting department predicted that Fields will end up landing with the Indianapolis Colts this upcoming offseason in free agency.
“2025 Free Agency: (quarterback) Justin Fields, Pittsburgh Steelers,” Bleacher Report said. “The Colts would be foolish to give up on Anthony Richardson any time soon. He’s still going to have his downturns and regressions, but he was always projected to be something of a long-term project. However, the Colts need to bring in a backup that has a similar skill set so the offense doesn’t have to change if he gets injured.

“Justin Fields would be the perfect target. Fields might be settling into the career backup role after excelling at the job in Pittsburgh. He’s athletic enough to run all of the quarterback run game that the Colts feature with Richardson and a good enough passer to get by.”
Fields is just 25 years old and has a very bright future. Whether it is with the Steelers or not, Fields will be a solid player for years to come.
