Steelers Pro Bowler Suggested As Free Agent Fit For Cowboys

Will the Steelers bring the star back?

One Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowler could be a hot name to watch for on the open market after the 2024 National Football League season comes to an end.

Pittsburgh’s full focus should be on the final three games of the regular season and maybe a deep playoff run. The Steelers are 10-4 on the season after losing against the Philadelphia Eagles heading into a pivotal clash against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, Dec. 21.

Although the Steelers should be focused on the final few games of the season, that doesn’t mean everyone needs to. With the regular season nearing its end, that also means the offseason and free agency aren’t very far away. Bleacher Report’s scouting department puts together a list of each team’s biggest weaknesses each week with ways to fix them now, in the offseason, and in the draft.

This week, Bleacher Report predicted that Steelers Pro Bowler Najee Harris will end up signing with the Dallas Cowboys this upcoming offseason.

“2025 Free Agency: (running back) Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers,” Bleacher Report said. “Dallas entered this weekend averaging just 91.2 rushing yards per game, which is the fifth-fewest in the NFL. Lead backs Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott are both impending free agents in the offseason, so the front office will undoubtedly be in the running back market this spring.

“Harris is an intriguing option since he had over 1,000 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns during the first three years of his career. In 2024, he’s averaging the second-highest yards per game (67.5) of his career and needs just 123 yards to break the quadruple-digit mark again. Plus, the former first-round pick will only be 27 in March.”

Harris will be available after Pittsburgh turned down the fifth-year on his rookie deal. It would be great for the Steelers to bring him back, but will they be able to? This is just a hypothetical and it’s too early to know. But, there surely will be interest in him at least.
