Steelers Russell Wilson Confident In Team With Star Ruled Out

Others will need to step up in Pickens' absence

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a major gap to fill in their offense, with star wide receiver George Pickens being ruled out for their Week 15 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pickens missed the Steelers’ Week 14 win against the now 3-10 Cleveland Browns and will now miss his second straight game. Pittsburgh was able to dominate Cleveland 27-14 even though the offense had a slow start, but Philadelphia will pose a bigger challenge.

With Pickens out with a hamstring injury, Wilson expressed confidence in the rest of the offense, as transcribed by Steelers.com’s Dale Lolley.

“I think with all the guys that we have, we’ve got guys that have great experience,” Wilson said. “Mike Williams, obviously, Calvin (Austin III) has been special this year. Scotty Miller, he’s made some great plays. We’ve got great confidence in the guys we have. So whatever it is, we know we’ll be ready to go.”

“I’ve just got great confidence in our guys. And so there’s never a time where I look left or look right and I don’t believe. I’ve just got great confidence in who we have and those situations. And just, I think Arthur has done a great job of putting guys in all different spaces and places, so that way we can facilitate the ball to different guys.”

It’s no surprise Wilson has confidence with how the Steelers have played this season. They are 10-3 and continue to find ways to win each week. Last week, the defense had two interceptions while Pat Freiermuth and Van Jefferson scored touchdowns. Who will step up for the Steelers this week?
