Steelers Suggested As Hypothetical Fit For Bears Star Receiver

Pittsburgh still needs more pass-catchers

If there is a wide receiver who could even slightly be available, he likely will be linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers in some way.

Pittsburgh has been looking for receiver help over the last year and eventually landed Mike Williams in a deal with the New York Jets ahead of the 2024 National Football League trade deadline. This likely won’t stop the Steelers’ continuous pursuit of receiver help and this upcoming offseason will be another opportunity to add.

Bleacher Report’s scouting department suggested that Pittsburgh could be a hypothetical fit for Chicago Bears star Keenan Allen this upcoming offseason in free agency.

“2025 Free Agency: WR Keenan Allen, Chicago Bears,” Bleacher Report said. “Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III and even Mike Williams have all chipped in to give the Steelers the production of a good No. 2 wide receiver to pair with Pickens. Still, it would be good for the team to bring in more talent to the receiving corps.

“Keenan Allen has not put up big numbers for the Bears this season, but he’s still a fairly reliable veteran. It would be worth a shot to see what he has left to offer an offense next season and if he can bounce back in a more functional offense next year.”

This is a fun idea. Pittsburgh still needs some receiver help and Allen likely could be had without breaking the bank. He had 1,243 receiving yards in 2023 in 13 games played with the Los Angeles Chargers. There has been much less opportunity in Chicago this year and he has 47 catchers for 471 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Because of significantly lower statistics, his market value likely will take a hit. Clearly he still has something left in the tank, but the Bears have been odd this year which likely has hurt Allen. Pittsburgh is much more stable and likely could utilize Allen’s talents better.
