Steelers Legendary Pass-Rusher Had Interest In Coaching For Team

Harrison would like to return to the Steelers' sideline

Anytime there’s a chance for a Pittsburgh Steelers legend to share his knowledge with the team, it should at least be considered.

Former Steelers linebacker James Harrison appeared on Ben Roethlisberger’s “Footbahlin” podcast livestream this weekend during Pittsburgh’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, answering questions from listeners throughout the episode. The former two-time All-Pro was asked about potentially coaching for the Steelers sometime down the line, and he was very open about it.

“Let’s just say I put a feeler out there but I got no response,” Harrison said.

It remains to be seen if Harrison could join head coach Mike Tomlin and the staff in the future, but right now things seem to not be clicking.

Adding Harrison to the coaching staff would be an exciting addition considering his accomplishments throughout his career. The pass-rusher was a two-time Super Bowl champion and 2008 Defensive Player of the Year. He totaled 84.5 sacks in 193 career games. Harrison would certainly bring a winning mindset if he ever gets the chance to join the Steelers on the sidelines again, but they’ve been just fine this season when it comes to winning.
