The Pittsburgh Steelers quieted many doubters this past week with their performance on both sides of the ball.
Pittsburgh had experienced all the noise after losing to the Cleveland Browns in Week 12, so their performance against the Cincinnati Bengals on the offensive side of the ball would be under a microscope. The good news for the Pirates is that they thrived in every single way as Russell Wilson delivered through the air and Najee Harris carried the load on the ground.
Wilson went 29-of-38 for a season-best 414 passing yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. Harris carried the football 16 times and caught six passes, combining for 129 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. While the defense allowed 38 points, they did come up with some major plays including T.J. Watt’s strip sack on Joe Burrow and Payton Wilson’s fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown.
The 44-point performance of the Steelers gave them a bump in ESPN’s Week 14 Power Rankings, moving them back to the top five and placing at No. 5. They had dropped to No. 7 last week, so this is a return to their highest ranking of the 2024 campaign.
With the Baltimore Ravens already having five losses, the Steelers will look to make it a two-game division lead when they take on the Browns on Sunday.
