The Pirates are losing a respected member of their front office, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Hadi Raad is leaving the organization to become the San Francisco Giants’ new pro scouting director, per Rosenthal. Raad had been a professional evaluation team leader with Pittsburgh, spending just one season with the club.
Raad previously spent three seasons as the director of pro scouting for the Miami Marlins, earning that job in November of 2019. The New York Yankees employed him for six seasons, in four different positions, before that — including two years as their director of minor league operations. Raad also worked for the Texas Rangers in 2013-14, after he began his career with the Yankees in 2012.
The Giants, who tabbed franchise legend Buster Posey to head up their baseball operations earlier this offseason, make few outside higher in the front office, so Raad must have impressed someone.
Pittsburgh will now look to add a new evaluation team leader or someone with similar responsibilities.
